You enter your destination and the time you need to arrive. GetinTime works backwards from that arrival time using live traffic data from Apple Maps, adds the duration of any stops you've added, and applies your configured lead-time buffer (e.g., "I want to arrive 5 minutes early"). The result is the exact moment you need to leave your door.
The free version includes Smart Departure Calculation — you can create trips and get accurate departure times. Pro adds: Live Activity on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, Calendar Integration, Stops Along the Way, Recurring Trips, and Notify on Departure (SMS/WhatsApp). Pro is a one-time purchase — pay once, keep it forever.
GetinTime needs a data connection to fetch live traffic from Apple Maps. Without a connection, traffic data may be unavailable and departure times will be estimates based on typical drive times.
When you add participants to a trip (Pro feature), tapping "Start Navigation" opens the native iOS Messages compose sheet pre-filled with all participant phone numbers and a departure message that includes your estimated arrival time. You tap Send — or cancel — and then the maps app launches. No data is sent by GetinTime directly; it uses your iPhone's built-in Messages app.
Only when you explicitly tap the "+" button to add a participant. The system contact picker opens (no permission required) and you select a contact. GetinTime receives only the name and phone number of the contact you chose. Your full contacts list is never read by the app.
With Pro, GetinTime can read your calendar events and automatically add events that require driving (those with a location set) to your Today view. Calendar data is processed entirely on-device — nothing is sent externally.
A few things to try: (1) Make sure Location Services is enabled for GetinTime in Settings → Privacy → Location Services. (2) Check that your lead-time buffer is set correctly in Profile settings. (3) Traffic conditions change rapidly — tap the refresh button on a trip to recalculate with the latest data.
If you had iCloud Backup enabled and restored from a recent backup, your trips should be restored. GetinTime stores all data locally using Apple's on-device frameworks, which are included in iCloud Backups. There is no separate cloud sync or account login.
Not yet. CarPlay support is on our roadmap.
